According to :

1. Meriam Webster ➜ Food is material consisting essential of protein, carbohydrate, and fat used in the body of an organism to sustain growth, repair, and vital processes and to furnish energy; also : such food together with supplementary substances (as minerals, vitamins, and condiments).

2. Oxford ➜ Food is any nutrious substance that people or animals eat or drink or that plants absorb in order to maintan life and growth.

3. Cambridge ➜ Food is something that people and animals eat, or plants absorb, to keep them alive.

4. Ohio Department of Taxation ➜ Food means substances, whether in liquid, concentrated, solid, frozen, dried, or dehydrated form, that are sold for ingestion or chewing by humans and are consumed for their taste or nutritional value. Food doesn't include alcoholic beverages, dietary supplements, soft drinks, or tobacco.

Food generally contains major components, such as Water, Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats and their derivatives. Also, there are minor components exist in food, such as Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidant, Pigments, Flavor, Organic Acid, and many more. In every kind of foods, those components are vary in quantity that determines foods' structure, texture, flavor, color, and different nutrition value.
Those chemical components in foods can be changed by storage, preservation, and cooking (processing steps). Food chemicals may sometimes interact with each others and result in even higher/lesser availability when it's digested.

Like what's been said above, structure and texture are important too besides any chemical components. Structure and texture of foods ought to be affected by size of food particles, major components in food itself, moisture content of foods.

This is a suggestion of how you may arrange foods on your plate :

Let's see what's in the picture!

i) First, you need a large amunt of grains as source of carbohydrates, because carbohydrates is your prime energy source.

ii) Second, you only need little portion of proteins as it's not a prime energy source, yet it helps maintain our body components by replacing dead cells.

iii) Do not forget to consume vegetables and fruits. They provide you vitamins and minerals, also high fiber is important either.

iv) Lastly, dairy foods, which also contain fats, have the least portion on your plate. Dairy products like milk give you both macronutrients and micronutrients. Otherwise, fat is your secondary energy source when your blood level is going down as lack of carbohydrates.

That's all I can share for today's morning. Hope you enjoy it!
See you at my another posts, bye!
